Starting Wednesday April 6, 2011 I will be embarking on a fitness experiment. Prompted by my coworker Tristan who I like to consider a prophet of Crossfit I went to 2 trial sessions to see what it's all about.
My understanding thus far is it's a unique workout philosophy that is centered around accomplishing hard work. There is no grunting while doing bicep curls with giant dumbells. More like jumping onto boxes, pull-ups, dead lifts, sit-ups, push-ups, rowing, kettle bell things, jump rope, and I'm sure much more to come.
I've now signed up to take a foundations class for about 3 weeks and will then be following with another 14 sessions over what I assume to be another month to month and a half.
I've decided to brush the dust off this blog (prompted by my Crossfit prophet) to use as a fitness diary. I'll track my weight, the exercises learned/conducted in a given session and my general feelings and thoughts.
If the first trial session was any indication, my ass will be kicked on a regular basis by the workouts and I will have trouble moving on more than one day a week.
Stay tuned.

Andy is the MAN at jumping rope! He was doing double unders and stringing them together during his first class, and it took me about two years to do just that.
ReplyDeleteGood luck. I'll be around as much as I can, but don't be afraid to ask any of the instructors for help or if you have questions.
