Progress Update For The Whole Past Year

So I just mis-clicked my bookmark to the blog and noticed it's been essentially a year since I last posted. Most people who follow this have probably seen me since then, so you know I kept the weight off. I fell off on my posts, but I do still take my body stats and a picture every Wednesday. So the data is logged, it just is a lot less interesting since I still am hovering between 190 and 200 consistently.

I do want to make a push toward at least 185 and probably really 175, but at this point with as slow as progress is, I think the interim goal is probably just the 185.

Progress Update August 2012

Nothing special about August either. It's tough to have a couple of month in a row where you aren't seeing a lot of progress. On the other hand I do give myself credit for not getting completely discouraged. What I need to do is just find a new pattern to dedicate to. Since the move I've generally struggled with the low carb thing because that just isn't Jen's style. If she's cutting something she'd rather cut meat and go vegetarian. I also have been getting less exercise each month. I really need to do something to reverse this trend. I have a 40-pound kettle bell at my disposal, so it's not like I even have to go anywhere to get a variety of exercises in. It's a matter of me establishing a habit. I keep telling myself I'll sneak in a set here or there because I know it's simple. Then I don't hold myself to it.

Progress Update: July 2012

Not a really exciting July. June ended really strong and July ended with mostly maintenance. I was somewhat disappointed, but by the time I'm getting around to posting this it's far enough in the past that it's not worth dwelling on.

Progress Update June 2012

This post is so long overdue. Most of a month in fact. Big month in June! I dipped below 200 for the first time in ages! Now that the 200 pound milestone is complete it's on toward 185! At 185 will be the first time I really evaluate where I want to stop. I am already predicting that once I get there I will decide to go for 175. On a related note, I think in order to actually stabilize at a final chosen weight, I will want to actually drop an additional 5 pounds below it and then let my body settle back toward the actual goal weight.

Progress Update May 2012

May had a lot of ups and downs with the wedding, but I have pushed myself toward a more balanced week where I try to not have such great differences in how I eat depending on the day of the week. For a while I was eating mostly vegetables and no carbs at all on Mondays and Tuesdays in prep for the Wednesday weigh-in. Then I would sort of pig out Wednesday and the rest of the week was a mixed bag, but there was usually at least another day or two where I went overboard.

By the end of May I've now tried to even it out more and only be super strict on Tuesday while being less lax throughout the end of the week. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with the loss in fat % while gaining weight this past week or if it just means I was more hydrated for weigh-in than usual. I try to keep a fairly strict routine where I drink a ton of water Tuesday night. Usually that is to help suppress hunger because eating a bowl full of lettuce with 150 calories of salad dressing doesn't really leave me feeling super satisfied all evening. However after all of that water drinking when I go to bed I try to drink no more all night even though I usually wake up once or twice to pee (because I drank so much all evening) and feel thirsty. So I usually assume I'm in a somewhat dehydrated state for weigh-in. This makes my weight seem lower than it really is at a random time through the week or day, but it's the simplest way I've found to try to be really consistent for the purpose of making the deltas from week to week as accurate as possible.
