Visiting Mike In Atlanta

I took a long weekend in Atlanta to visit my college buddy Mike on January 21-24. We had a hell of a weekend.

Thursday night we went to a place he and some of his coworkers frequent. It's more or less a sports bar and restaurant. They were sending off a coworker who was transferring to an office on the west coast. We had some beers, headed back to his place, I think had a couple more beers, and probably watched the first episode of Jersey Shore.

Friday we slept in some, went to the Vortex for lunch, which gets featured on the food network every now and then for it's crazy Double Bypass Burger. Here's a pdf of the menu, reading their "Stuff You Really Need To Know" on the 2nd page is entertaining. So I got that Double Bypass Burger since I didn't last time we went, and I just wanted to experience it. It's a pretty big burger, but it's topped with like 2 fried eggs, a crap-ton of bacon and cheese, and the kicker is they replace the bun with 2 grilled cheese sandwiches (yea, it earns the name). Then we went to sign the lease on his new place, and he took me by his hangout spot, which is essentially some warehouse type space where he's a part of a club of sorts where they make stuff. Could be hardware hacking, someone was building some sort of an automated tool, nobody was there at the time, but it seemed like a neat place. We did some coding on our little side project, and then ordered pizza, and got drunk making the Jersey Shore drinking game.

Saturday we pretty much spent the whole day moving Mike into his new place. It's a high school where they turned the classrooms into lofts. I was pretty skeptical at first, but it's totally Mike, and they place grew on me by the end of the day. Moving was a giant hassle because the lady at the leasing office didn't properly "download" the gate key (inside joke), so his remote to get parking lot access didn't work and caused problems. After a long day of moving, we finished off the pizza and Jersey Shore.

Sunday on the way to the airport we ate at an awesome BBQ place, and that sort of finished off the trip.
