I couldn't decide whether this past New Years would be considered New Years 2009 or New Years 2010, so I chose to just use the title you already read.
So I left my plans for New Years open until pretty close to the last minute this year, not knowing if I'd do a family thing, or a work people thing, or a friends thing. I guess I sort of ended up with options on all fronts, and I chose the family thing.
I'm really glad I did too, because it was a blast. My aunt and uncle bought a place in Ocean City MD this past summer on the bay side of 56th street. Behind their place is a hotel and restaurant/bar called Fager's Island. They host a New Year's party, and my aunt got tickets for her, my uncle, my parents, my cousin, her boyfriend, and me. It included a nice dinner (quite tasty), and then all we had to buy was drinks.
The live band was mostly kick-ass, having a wide range of music, and even featuring some fairly recent pop hits as well. Word on the street is that they are the best wedding band in Philly.
Obviously I got drunk, and danced, and drank some more, and stayed up late.
My aunt and uncle have a nice place. It's a great getaway spot. It's down far enough that you are in the middle of the OC action, and I'm really hoping to spend some time there this summer. Maybe some long weekends or maybe a week somewhere in there.
