Training

So, other than the first day orientation Booz Allen sends you to 4 days of training early on in your employment. It is two 2-day courses, where the first is a generic course about Booz Allen, the history, the culture, practices, etc.

The second is more tailored to your level in the firm. I finished the first course today. All in all it was enjoyable and I got to meet a few really nice and/or interesting people, but other parts felt like they were beating me over the head with why Booz is so great. I honestly don't understand why they felt the need to more or less spend a sum of hours essentially marketing/advertising to us. We're employees, if we didn't have a good opinion of the firm, we probably wouldn't have taken the job (well in these economic times, maybe that isn't as certain).

It really bothered me a bit at points. Like I said though, on the whole it was good, I just think there was some fluff in it here and there that seemed unnecessary and I intend to let them know that in my evaluation of the course.

Onto my position specific training tomorrow. I'm not even sure what else there is to find out, but it must cover some sort of subject that hasn't been discussed yet. My best guess is career development, but we'll see.
